Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how vintagoz.com, operated by Vintagoz in Calgary, Alberta, uses cookies and browser storage, what is currently used, and how you can control it. This document forms part of our Privacy Policy and is general information, not legal advice.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed in your browser and stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet). They can allow a website to remember information about your visit, such as preferences, to make the experience smoother.
In addition to traditional cookies, browsers provide storage technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage. Vintagoz currently uses localStorage for scores, ratings, nicknames, and game preferences.
2. Types of cookies by purpose
2.1. Strictly necessary storage
Some browser storage may be necessary for the features you choose to use. We use necessary storage only for limited, appropriate purposes and in accordance with Alberta privacy requirements that apply to the activity.
- Maintain the state of a game session;
- Remember basic preferences, such as a selected game mode;
- Support security and technical integrity.
2.2. Functionality cookies / local storage
- Nickname chosen for the leaderboard;
- Personal scores and records;
- Ratings you give to games;
- Preferences such as AI mode or 2-player mode.
This information stays exclusively on your device through localStorage and is not sent to external servers.
2.3. Performance / analytics cookies
Vintagoz currently does not use third-party analytics cookies such as Google Analytics. If that changes, this policy will be updated and consent will be requested where required by Alberta PIPA, PIPEDA, or other applicable privacy law.
2.4. Marketing / advertising cookies
Vintagoz does not use marketing, retargeting, or third-party advertising tracking cookies on the website.
3. First-party vs. third-party cookies
- First-party: the current Vintagoz site code does not intentionally set traditional first-party cookies; it uses browser localStorage for the local features described above.
- Third-party: the website currently does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, video, or map features that intentionally set tracking cookies. A hosting or security provider may use technical cookies depending on the deployed hosting configuration.
4. Cookie duration
- Session cookies: if introduced by the hosting or security layer, these generally expire when the browser session ends;
- Persistent cookies: if introduced in the future, these remain for a defined period and this policy will be updated where appropriate;
- localStorage: remains until you manually clear the website data in your browser.
5. Consent and Alberta privacy law
We use necessary and functionality storage only for reasonable and appropriate purposes. Where Alberta PIPA, PIPEDA, or another applicable law requires consent, we will explain the purpose in understandable terms and obtain the form of consent required by applicable law for that use. Optional tracking or advertising technologies are not currently used.
6. How to manage and disable cookies
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser. Common options include:
- Browser settings: block cookies by default, delete existing cookies, or use private-browsing mode.
- Clear website data: delete data stored specifically by vintagoz.com.
Important: disabling storage may affect functionality. For example, your scores and ratings may not be preserved.
